Practice balancing equations tonight and make sure you know how to recognize the different types of reactions. Call me if you have any questions (no later than 9pm, please).

You don’t need to bring in your cupcakes until Thursday (although you do need to hand in your Cupcakes prelab).

Periodic Table of Elements in CUPCAKE form

We are going to put together our cupcake periodic table on Thursday the 20th. Everyone needs to bring in 2 dozen cupcakes (one cake mix makes 2 dozen cupcakes — hmmmm..mmm there are some conversions we could do here!) DO NOT FROST THE CUPCAKES! We need to frost them according to their placement on our periodic table. We will frost them in class and…..eat them (ruining our lunch!)

We will have our final chemistry test (wipe that tear away) on the 18th. The test will be on balancing chemical reactions (you need to know how to write equations from names for this — be sure to review) and on types of reactions.

Chemistry re-take

If you are re-taking the last chemistry test (naming formulas, writing compounds, and mole conversions), you need to see me to schedule a time to take the re-take.

The re-take will consist of the following:

5 writing formula questions (I give you the names, you write the formulas)
5 naming formula questions (I give you the formulas, you write the names of the compounds)
5 conversion problems (convert from number of particles to moles –or moles to number of particles; and convert from mass (grams) to moles — or moles to mass (grams))

You will have the following for your re-take:

a periodic table
the Naming Compounds Flowchart (know how to use it)
one 3×5 index card with any notes that you would like to put on it
